Cornus mas (cornelian cherry)

Cornus mas is an early-flowering shrub or tree and can grow to over 6 meters high. Depending on the region and weather conditions, the flowering period in Central Europe begins in February and lasts until April.

The edible but sour berries can be processed into juice, fruit brandy, jam or compote.
